Other ways to Give

There are several additional ways that you can give to and support the Hope Clinic. Read through this list to see how else you can get involved. Please reach out to us if you have questions or would like help getting set up with any of these giving methods.

Giving Methods

Qualified Charitable Distributions

Beginning at age 72, taxpayers are required to take funds out of their Individual Retirement Account (IRA). This is referred to as a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD). A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) is a distribution taken from an IRA and given directly to charity. Any amount given as a QCD satisfies all or part of the RMD for the year. QCDs are not reported as taxable income. For example, if your RMD is $50,000 and you give $1,000 to The Hope Clinic as a QCD, the taxable portion of your RMD is only $49,000 instead of the full $50,000

RMDs start at age 72, but this strategy is eligible to taxpayers once they are age 70 ½. As of 2020, the maximum each taxpayer can give as a QCD each year is $100,000. Married filing jointly couples can give a combined $200,000.

Estate Planning

Don’t forgot about The Hope Clinic in your estate plan as a way to leave a lasting legacy in your community. An easy way to leave assets to The Hope Clinic is to add us as a beneficiary on a retirement account. To add a specific bequest though your Last Will or a Revocable Trust, we recommend consulting with an attorney to ensure your assets pass according to your wishes and current estate law.

Donating Appreciated Stock

If you own highly appreciated stock in a non-retirement account, the stock can be gifted to The Hope Clinic to avoid any capital gains taxes on the sale of the asset. The Hope Clinic is able to sell the appreciated stock with no tax consequence. ETFs and Mutual Funds can be gifted as well. Please contact us for more information, if you are interested in this giving option.

Community Markets Receipts

Save your Community Markets receipts to help the Hope Clinic get 1% cash back. Simply shop at Community Markets, save your cash register receipts, and drop off or mail your receipts to either one of the Hope Clinic offices.

Kroger Community Rewards

Did you know that when you scan your Kroger’s Plus Card at any Kroger store, we can receive a percentage of your purchase as a donation from Kroger, at no additional expense to you. It’s true! But first you have to sign up your card and connect it to the Hope Clinic.

Here’s how to make that happen. Pick up a Plus card from the cashier if you don’t already have one. Next, go to krogercommunityrewards.com to create an account or to sign in. Look for the Hope Clinic or number 11498 to designate as the recipient of your rewards.
